With both Grand Seiko and Oriental Watch Company celebrating their 60th anniversaries of their establishment within a year of each other, it seems fitting for the two companies to join forces and launch two special, exclusive limited-edition Grand Seiko timepieces to commemorate the dual diamond jubilees of the inestimable companies, these being the Grand Seiko Heritage, and the Grand Seiko Sports, are limited to 60 and 30 pieces respectively. The new Grand Seiko Heritage taps into the traditional Japanese craftsmanship and incredible talent of Grand Seiko – being born out of the companies design to build the world’s best precision timepiece. The exclusive pieces are only available at designated Oriental Watch Company boutiques in Hong Kong and Macau. As a reflection of the extraordinary occasion, the Grand Seiko Heritage comes in stainless steel and features an exquisite yet durable dual-curved sapphire crystal glass that covers understated splendour of its jade-green dial. The special significance of the 60th anniversary is underlined firstly by the green tone of the dial, inspired by the mandarin for ‘60’, which sounds like ‘green’ in Chinese, and secondly by the carefully considered placement of the number ‘60’ at the twelve o’clock position. Grand Seiko’s mechanical calibre, the 9S85, sits at the very heart of the timepiece, a symbol of the unyielding spirit that drives Grand Seiko and Oriental Watch Company to ever greater heights.
