Jockey Zac Purton to Interpret the Charming Demeanour Derived from “There is a Gentleman in Every Man” theme

Oriental Watch Sha Tin Trophy Gentlemen’s Bow Tie Raceday has become an annual sensation in Hong Kong since its first edition. This year, Oriental Watch Company will join hands with The Hong Kong Jockey Club once again to present the Oriental Watch Sha Tin Trophy Gentlemen’s Bow Tie Raceday to be held on 21st October 2018 at Sha Tin Racecourse. Guests and the public are invited to attend the races in attires adorned with bow ties or bow-related elements to grace the event with elegance and glamour.

Oriental Watch Company put forward “There is a Gentleman in Every Man” as this year’s theme and kicked off the campaign by featuring Hong Kong Champion Jockey Mr. Zac Purton in his enchanting gentleman outfit, giving Oriental Watch Sha Tin Trophy Gentlemen’s Bow Tie Raceday a stylish and lively head start. The promotional video and bus body advertisements have launched lately to further promote the virtue of gentlemen to the larger public.

Originally a fascination for the beau monde, now one of the most popular events in the city, horseracing traces back to the very beginning of Hong Kong’s colonial era. Sha Tin Trophy is not only a long-running recurring race, but also one of the most important races for each racing season. Rooting in Hong Kong for more than half a century, Oriental Watch Company has been the titled sponsor of the event since 2012. With the introduction of Gentlemen’s Bow Tie Raceday in 2015, the Raceday has further been transformed into a spectacular congregation full of style, class and glamour. Today, participants of the Raceday can enjoy the thrilling actions on the green field while indulging in the fashionable atmosphere enveloping the racecourse where suited gentlemen with bow ties and fine watches as well as well-dressed ladies show off their beautiful outfits graced with bows. Renowned jockey Mr. Zac Purton has been one of the city’s favourite jockeys since he started racing in Hong Kong in 2007. With his courage, insight and unparalleled horsemanship, Mr. Purton has been crowned two times the Hong Kong Champion Jockey. The champion endorses the Raceday’s theme “There is a Gentleman in Every Man”, concurring that being a gentleman is a lot more than just dressing up. He further elaborated that a gentleman can be one of any age or any background, one who holds onto a set of values or one who emphasises on the sense of obligation for others, the world, his career, and his family. The jockey remarked, “One of the defining qualities of a gentleman is dedication. A gentleman always gives his best at what he does. For me, it is to tap the potential of the horses I ride. Time – matters of split seconds – makes the difference of winning and losing.”
