“Gentlemen’s Bow Tie Raceday”

 

Trendsetters, race-goers and watch connoisseurs all gathered at Sha Tin Racecourse on 22nd October 2017 to celebrate the 2017 Oriental Watch Sha Tin Trophy “Gentlemen’s Bow Tie Raceday” in attires graced with bow ties or bow-related elements. Renowned actress Ms Christine Kuo and renowned actor Mr. Benjamin Yuen joined the representatives of Oriental Watch Company and The Hong Kong Jockey Club in officiating the kick-off ceremony while celebrities Ms Elanne Kong and Mr. Oscar Siu starred in a catwalk show as celebrity models. Among the prestigious guests and attending celebrities were Mr. Ken Hung, Ms Belinda Yan, Ms Leung Ka Ki, Ms Rosemary Vandenbroucke, Ms Jacquelin Ch'ng, Ms Lisa Ch’ng, Mr. Michael Lai, Dr. Albert Wong, Mr. Edwin Ing, Mr. and Mrs. Franklin Heng, Mr. Andy Wong, Ms Amanda Lui, and Ms Ohphelia Hui.

 

The kick-off ceremony was held after Race 1, the Piaget Excellent Handicap, commenced with a speech by Mr. Dennis Yeung, Managing Director of Oriental Watch Holdings Limited, followed by a cake-cutting ceremony officiated by Mr. Dennis Yeung, Mr. Anthony Kelly, Executive Director of Racing Business, Ms Christine Kuo and Mr. Benjamin Yuen. After that, Dr. Yeung Ming Biu, Chairman of Oriental Watch Holdings Limited, Mrs. Yeung, Mrs. Clara Yeung, and Operations of The Hong Kong Jockey Club, and Executive Directors of Oriental Watch Holdings Limited Mr. Alain Lam and Mr. Choi Kwok Yum, and Mr. Fung Kwong Yiu, Consultant of Oriental Watch Holdings Limited, were invited on stage for a toasting ceremony to officially kick off the 2017 Oriental Watch Sha Tin Trophy “Gentlemen’s Bow Tie Raceday”. To thank Mr. Benjamin Yuen, who attended the event in a stylish gentleman attire with a unique bow tie, for his graceful presence, Mr. Dennis Yeung presented an H. Moser & Cie. timepiece to Mr. Benjamin Yuen. Ms Christine Kuo, on the other hand, showcased a Parmigiani timepiece.

 

The event was filled with an array of activities including a professional photographic studio, in which the guests could put on a prestigious timepiece for a studio-grade portrait; free shoe-shining service, which helped the guests to present a total gentleman’s look, and spirits and cigar stations on the balcony. A catwalk show was staged in the Parade Ring and then at The Jockey Club Box. In the show, celebrity models Ms Elanne Wong, Mr. Oscar Siu and six other models, dressed in specially-designed haute couture featuring bow elements designed by reputable fashion designer Mr. Pius Cheung, demonstrating eight prestigious timepieces, namely the GRAND LANGE 1 MOON PHASE by A. Lange & Söhne, SERPENTI JEWELLERY WATCH by Bulgari, Vanguard Automatic by FRANCK MULLER, Laureato by Girard-Perregaux, The Venturer Small Seconds Purity by H. Moser & Cie., Tonda Métropolitaine Sélène by Parmigiani, Altiplano by Piaget, and Elite Lady Moonphase by Zenith.

 

Attending the event in chic and elegant gentleman attire, renowned singer Mr. Ken Hung was awarded the “Best Bow Tie Attire Award”, winning an exquisite FRANCK MULLER timepiece while the winner of the “Guess the Winning Horse” contest was awarded a fabulous prize.

 

2017 Oriental Watch Sha Tin Trophy “Gentlemen’s Bow Tie Raceday” presented ten breath-taking horse races in the following sequence: Piaget Excellent Handicap, H. Moser & Cie. Excellent Handicap, FRANCK MULLER Excellent Handicap, Girard-Perregaux Excellent Handicap, A. Lange & Söhne Excellent Handicap, Bulgari Excellent Handicap, The Premier Bowl, the 2017 Oriental Watch Sha Tin Trophy, Zenith Excellent Handicap, and the Parmigiani Excellent Handicap. The winner of 2017 Oriental Watch Sha Tin Trophy went to Beauty Generation, and the horse owner Mr. Patrick Kwok was thrilled with the honour.
