Gentlemen’s Bow Tie Raceday
Trendsetters, horse enthusiasts and watch connoisseurs all gathered at Sha Tin Racecourse on 23rd October 2016 to celebrate the Oriental Watch 55th Anniversary Sha Tin Trophy Gentlemen’s Bow Tie Raceday in attires with bow ties or bow-related elements. Ms. Priscilla Wong, renowned actress and birthday girl, and Mr. Him Law, renowned actor, joined the representatives of Oriental Watch Company and The Hong Kong Jockey Club in officiating the kick-off ceremony while celebrities Ms. Elanne Kong, Ms. Michelle Wai and Ms. Vincy Chan participated in a catwalk show as celebrity models. Among the prestigious guests and attending celebrities were Mr. Jason Chan, Ms. Jess Sum, Ms. Lisa Ch’ng, Ms. Ana R, Ms. Gloria Yip, Ms. Lorretta Chow, Ms. Amanda Lui, Mr. Andrew Pong, Mr. Kyran Sze, Mr. Albert Wong, Mr. Edwin Ing, Ms. Ophelia Hui, Mr. Kelvin Ma and Mrs. Heather Ma.
The kick-off ceremony was held after Race 1, the Parmigiani Excellent Handicap. To commence the ceremony, Mr. Dennis Yeung, Managing Director of Oriental Watch Holdings Limited, was invited on stage to deliver a speech, followed by a cake-cutting ceremony officiated by Mr. Dennis Yeung, Mr. Winfried Engelbrecht-Bresges, CEO of The Hong Kong Jockey Club, Ms. Priscilla Wong and Mr. Him Law. After that, Dr. Yeung Ming Biu, Chairman of Oriental Watch Holdings Limited, Mrs. Yeung, Mrs. Clara Yeung, Mr. Anthony Kelly, Executive Director of Racing Business and Operations of The Hong Kong Jockey Club, and Executive Directors of Oriental Watch Holdings Limited Mr. Alain Lam, Mr. Choi Kwok Yum and Mr. Fung Kwong Yiu were invited on stage for a toasting ceremony which officially kicked off Oriental Watch 55th Anniversary Sha Tin Trophy Gentlemen’s Bow Tie Raceday. Mr. Him Law, who attended the event in a stylish gentleman attire, was presented an H. Moser & Cie. Endeavour Big Date with a retail value of HK$218,000 by Mr. Dennis Yeung, in appreciation of his graceful presence. Ms. Priscilla Wong showcased the Limelight Stella by Piaget with a retail value of HK$1,790,000.
The event was graced with a variety of activities including live portrait drawing by Ms. Wingki Kwok, Hong Kong based illustrator, phototaking with models wearing body paints of bow ties, clocks and horses, and spirits and cigar stations on the balcony. Two catwalk shows were staged in the Parade Ring then at The Jockey Club Box. In the first catwalk show, celebrity models Ms. Elanne Wong, Ms. Michelle Wai, Ms. Vincy Chan and five other models, dressed in specially-designed haute couture featuring bow elements designed by reputable fashion designer Mr. Pius Cheung, demonstrated eight prestigious timepieces, namely the Little Lange 1 “Soirée” by A. Lange & Söhne, DIVAS’ DREAM by Bulgari, Pathos Desire by Carl. F Bucherer, Vanguard by FRANCK MULLER, Endeavour Small Seconds – Diamond by H. Moser & Cie., Tonda Métropolitaine Sélène by Parmigiani, Limelight Gala by Piaget and Elite Lady Moonphase by Zenith. In the second catwalk show, eight gentleman models dressed in gentlemen’s attires provided by LUXE Tuxedo Limited founded by celebrity horse owner Mr. Edmond So demonstrated eight eye-catching timepieces, namely Grand Lange 1 Moon Phase by A. Lange & Söhne, Octo Finissimo by Bulgari, Patravi TravelTec by Carl F. Bucherer, Vanguard by FRANCK MULLER, Venturer Small Seconds XL by H. Moser & Cie., Tonda 1950 Flying Tourbillion by Parmigiani, Polo S by Piaget and El Primero Skeleton by Zenith.
A series of contests were also staged along the event, bringing a lot of excitement among the guests. Renowned singer Mr. Jason Chan, who attended the event in stylish gentleman’s attire, was awarded the “Best Dressed Award”, winning an exquisite FRANCK MULLER timepiece while the winner of the “Guess the Winning Horse” contest was awarded a spectacular Carl F. Bucherer timepiece.
Oriental Watch 55th Anniversary Sha Tin Trophy Gentlemen’s Bow Tie Raceday presented ten breathtaking horse races in the following sequence: Parmigiani Excellent Handicap, Zenith Excellent Handicap, Piaget Excellent Handicap, FRANCK MULLER Excellent Handicap, H. Moser & Cie. Excellent Handicap, A. Lange & Söhne Excellent Handicap, The Premier Bowl, Carl F. Bucherer Excellent Handicap, The Oriental Watch 55th Anniversary Sha Tin Trophy and the Bulgari Excellent Handicap. The winner of The Oriental Watch 55th Anniversary Sha Tin Trophy went to Designs of Rome, and the horse owner Mr. Cheng Keung Fai was thrilled with the honour.
