Time in Space - STEAM Mission Game Day

" Time in Space - STEAM Mission Game Day ".

On December 1, 2023, Oriental Watch Company and Hong Kong Children in Need Foundation (HKCIN) collaborated to organize a volunteer event called " Time in Space - STEAM Mission Game Day ". This event invited 15 volunteers from Oriental Watch Company and approximately 30 students from ELCHK Faith Love Lutheran School to participate as Time Warriors in this STEAM challenge-themed game day.

The students and volunteer colleagues worked together in teams to plan strategies to overcome obstacles. While enjoying the fun of the game, they also learned important skills such as time management, design thinking, and problem-solving. Their ultimate goal was to successfully complete the mission!

""Clock Escape Fishing."

One of the games featured during the event was "Clock Escape Fishing." The tabletop was filled with digital clocks that presented mixed Chinese and English questions. The Time Warriors needed to draw time cards and match them with the correct answers on the linked clocks and had to use the magnetic fishing rods to "fish out" it. The challenge was to successfully help all the linked clocks escape within the given time limit of 15 minutes in order to get the score.

"Species Speed Matching."

Another game was "Species Speed Matching." On the tabletop, there were 10 sets of different combinations, either "Food and Vitamins" or "Animals and Species," totaling 2 categories. The Time Warriors selected one category and had to match the corresponding pairs within a designated time frame. Each Time Warrior needed to swiftly and accurately complete the matching task within the given time limit.

"Master of Time Management"

The game "Master of Time Management" featured five sets of clocks with different times on the tabletop. Each set consisted of a linked clock face and an electronic clock face, making a total of two variations. The Time Warriors had to match the corresponding linked clock face with the electronic clock face that displayed the same time within the given time limit. It required their attention to detail and quick thinking to successfully pair up the matching clock faces.

"Gem Grabber”

In the game "Gem Grabber," each Time Warrior was given three chances to grab gems. Their objective was to accurately obtain a gem with a weight closest to 105 grams within these three attempts. To successfully pass the game, the difference between the grabbed gem's weight should be within a margin of 5 grams, either above or below. Precision and careful judgment were crucial for the Time Warriors to excel in this challenge.

Through this event, the students not only enjoyed the fun of the games but also learned many important skills and gained valuable insights into time management. Each challenge required teamwork, collaboration, problem-solving, and strategic planning. By participating in these activities, the students were able to acquire valuable life skills that will benefit them in various aspects of their lives.
